My 2nd Grader!

OMG I have a 2nd Grader!

Now that's more like it!

It's the little things like this that make a momma proud! It is good to know that she write about more than her dad and I scarring her emotionally :)

Translation:

Morissa (she writes my name a lot, she likes it!)

I love Easter because Jesus roasen from the dead.

Not just about candy. I love Easter!

Oh and about that parenting award, turns out that your kids nominate you for things like that. Nylin has informed me that she doesn't think I will win since all I do is embarrass her by putting her writings online. She demanded I take it down.

HAHAHAHAAAA

Not a chance kid.

Maybe Next Year!

After this I doubt I will be winning any parenting awards!

Nylin's teacher sent home a nice little note asking for my permission to submit one of Nylin's stories to Paw Prints. Paw Prints is a showcase of writing from each grade level. One story from each grade level is picked per quarter. I was so proud! I signed the release and sent it back to school immeaditly.
The next day I get the story sent home and Oh. My. Goodness.

Translation for those of you not well versed in 1st grade:

My dog and my other dog fight and wrestle. My Mom Morissa says don't go by them. They also jump on me! They bite. My dog Tank is the littlest he is only 4 months

SO CUTE RIGHT??

old. Buddy my other dog is older. But I don't know how old he is. But he is older than Tank.

(still cute right???)

We have to get rid of Tank until Buddy dies.

(uh oh)

Why? Because we can't handle two dogs.

So we have to do it. We might get another dog after though.

It's very hard to get over. I am very very sad.

(could she make a mom feel any worse?)

Did you ever give a pet away? We can't change it. Can you help?

(yep, feeling worse!)

She did a great job with her writing but OMG I feel like a heel. The only time we ever really mentioned getting rid of the dog was when he bit one of her friends! Nylin never once mentioned that she was slightly upset about getting rid of the dog either. Never. Well until this story.

So for once in my life I am not rooting for my daughter to "win" and be published.

I know I need to do a Thankgiving day post, and I will. I am just super busy today and I HAD to share this picture with you.

What are you thankful for?

Nylin came home from school yesterday with a new book.  It is about being thankful. Very fitting for the month of November huh?

After reading the book Nylin asked me what I am most thankful for. I told her that I would tell her but she had to tell me first. her response?

"My family. I love you, daddy, Jace, Kara, Jackson and Buddy so much."

Sweet right?

Then she goes on.....

"and I am thankful that you have a good job so you can pay the bills and we can have a house."

I love this girl! She is so smart and loving, and one of the big reasons I am so thankful!

Nylin and I at Sarah's 5th birthday party last weekend.

I have a first grader!

Today was the first day of school for Ms. Nylin.
Although I was teary eyed it was nothing like last year. I am glad she is back in school and she is too. I have never met a child so eager to learn!!! She is ready to see all her friends again and ready to get back into a schedule as well. I think I was more nervous than she was, lol. Although we planned to wake her at 7 this morngin she woke us at 6:15. She was SO EXCITED!!!!

I am so proud of Nylin.

She had her first soccer game of the season this past weekend and she did great!

They do not have official positions yet since she is still in the youngest group (4-6). They started off playing her as a forward and she is so good.

She scored 3 goals! 3!!!!!!!!! I was such a proud mama!!! This is the kid that can barely walk without tripping AND SHE SCORED THREE GOALS!!

Towards the end of the game they moved her back to defense. I was a little nervous since she has never played that position before. I was worried she would take the ball the way down the field and try to score. She didn't! She actually stayed in her little area and blocked the ball a few times.

Everyone (including me!) was high fiving her after the game and it was just awesome. She and I were both so excited! I think soccer runs in the blood! My little cousins (that really are not that little anymore!) are superstar soccer players. I wish they lived closer so they could teach Nylin more! Hopefully this summer they will get the chance to kick the ball around together.

I have a loos toth i love it. I love goowal a lot.

So that reads---
I wish that I had a phone. I want an AT&T phone.
I have a loose tooth, I love it!
I love Goodwill a lot.

So how does a 6 year old even know what AT&T phones are? Sorry to disappoint but we have Verizon. HAHA!

I think we have talked her into waiting until she is at least 10 for a phone. Seriously I BEGGED for a pager at 13, which was a huge deal- don't you know that ONLY drug dealers have pagers? Apprantly every kid in my school was a drug dealer! I did not get my first cell phone until I was 17 when my Granny bought it for me. It only had a few hundred minutes and if I went over I was in so much trouble. There was no such thing as texting and the phone probably weighed a pound or 2, lol.
Things change so much over the years! By the time Peanut is 5 s/he will probably have a phone. HAHA!

Happy Hair Day

Last week at school Nylin studied the letter "H". In celebration of the letter H they decided to have "Happy Hair Day" on Friday.
Nylin was STOKED to be able to make her hair "happy". They suggessted using gel and as many hair bows as possible. I think Nylin and I did a pretty good job of it.
She was so proud!

You might have heard that I am letting Nylin dress herself lately. Sometimes she looks GREAT and sometimes she looks, well, less than great. Pick and choose your battles right? I try to support her and her big girl choices but sometimes I have to say something. I told her this morning she kind of looks goofy. Her reply?
"Mommy if I look so goofy then how come you call me your pretty princess? Princesses are NOT goofy looking."

Well shut my mouth. She is a Pretty Princess- no matter what she wears!!!

The Toothless Wonder

Nylin lost her first tooth laste last week. She was so proud of herself for it. I guess it is like a big kid thing or something for her.
She might kill me for this post in 5 years but for now she is happy for me to show her missing tooth off.

It was an awesome weekend here in Missouri. The weather was amazing. Mom and I took advantage of the nice day on Saturday and took the kids to the park (while daddy worked). We had such a good time!!!! Just seeing the kids laugh and play like that was amazing.
